Why Bipasha's film will not release
Bipasha Basu's much-touted Bengali debut in Rituparno Ghosh's Shob Choritro Kalponik is stuck for release. It seems there were some serious issues between director Ghosh and producers Reliance Big Entertainment.
Bipasha to star in a Bengali film
The cause though seems too juvenile to mention, is all about the sequential positioning of the Reliance logo when the credit titles are flashed. While Reliance wanted their logo to be flashed on screen with the first shot of the film, Rituparno Ghosh wanted it to be flashed just before the narration began. This has resulted in a delay in the release of the film.
However, Ghosh says that the disputable issues have now been resolved and the film is slated for a September release.
Ghosh has reason to be happy. First, his new release Khela is a big hit [READ REVIEW] and is also an aesthetically fulfilling film, offering a glimpse of his return to form that was questioned after films like Antarmahal and Raincoat.
The second reason is that he has already begun to shoot his new film Abohomaan, which stars Jisshu Sengupta, Ananya Chatterjee, Ria Sen, Dipankar De and Mamata Shankar. Abohomaan is a film-within-a-film. Dipankar plays a filmmaker making a film on the noted theatre personality of Bengali stage, Binodini Dasi aka Nati Binodini. Ananya is a struggling actress in the film.
