Bipasha Basu at Rocky S 'Aza' Collection Launch

Designer Rocky S, launched his Aza collection in Dubai with a little help from his glamorous Bollywood friends - Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif, and Shamita Shetty. Plus Kat's little sister, Isabella Kaif dropped in on the fun with her boyfriend, probably to help further the fact that she's trying her hardest to make it in B-Town like her older sis.

This monsoon, there will be a ‘bridal wave’!

bipasha basu
The winding blue carpet at Aza, liberally sprinkled with white petals and flowers, took on an appearance of a blue sky dotted with playful clouds on a sunshiny day.

Outside, however, it was dark and raining. But the focus on Friday night was all things bright and beautiful as Rocky S showcased his couture collection to the swish set in a soiree hosted by him and Dr Alka Nishar.

It was a bridal wave out there with the guests merrily sipping on wine and soaking in the sight of the creations flashing before their eyes, as models paraded around the store in them.

Rocky’s muse, Bollywood babe Bipasha Basu, was there to catch all the action along with Shamita Shetty and Katrina Kaif who was accompanied by her little sister Isabel. Lending support to his co-designer friend was Vikram Phadnis dressed in casual monsoon attire. You can’t go wrong with black was what Aditya Hitkari and Divya Palat seemed to have felt as they walked together, almost attached to the hip.

Displaying a healthy cleavage was Sandhya Shetty who walked in with designer Kaushik Shrimanker who was sporting the trend of the season — a waistcoat. The fashionable crowd also included Anil and Sabina Chopra, Lata Patel, Palak and Sammeer Sheth, Farid Currim and Ashwini Kakkar.

Why Bipasha's film will not release

bipashabasu
Bipasha Basu's much-touted Bengali debut in Rituparno Ghosh's Shob Choritro Kalponik is stuck for release. It seems there were some serious issues between director Ghosh and producers Reliance Big Entertainment.

Bipasha to star in a Bengali film

The cause though seems too juvenile to mention, is all about the sequential positioning of the Reliance logo when the credit titles are flashed. While Reliance wanted their logo to be flashed on screen with the first shot of the film, Rituparno Ghosh wanted it to be flashed just before the narration began. This has resulted in a delay in the release of the film.

However, Ghosh says that the disputable issues have now been resolved and the film is slated for a September release.

Ghosh has reason to be happy. First, his new release Khela is a big hit [READ REVIEW] and is also an aesthetically fulfilling film, offering a glimpse of his return to form that was questioned after films like Antarmahal and Raincoat.

The second reason is that he has already begun to shoot his new film Abohomaan, which stars Jisshu Sengupta, Ananya Chatterjee, Ria Sen, Dipankar De and Mamata Shankar. Abohomaan is a film-within-a-film. Dipankar plays a filmmaker making a film on the noted theatre personality of Bengali stage, Binodini Dasi aka Nati Binodini. Ananya is a struggling actress in the film.

Bipasha surprises with long tresses

BIPASHA BASU

Actress Bipasha Basu, who recently cut her hair really short, surprised audiences at the ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) Wednesday by sporting her signature long tresses once again while walking the ramp for designer duo Gauri and Nainika Karan.

"See how wonderful stylists are today! In the morning I had short hair and now I have long hair," Bipasha told IANS. "I had to revert to my long tresses because it was important for the look," she said.

Asked about her association with the designers, she said: "I have a very close association with Gauri and Nainika and they have made me look beautiful on many occasions."

"They are two little dynamites, who are very talented and their clothes are very elegant and royal," she added.

The show saw a series of lavish romantic gowns, with Bipasha setting the ramp ablaze in a blush pink 'Cinderella' dress, having an empire cut bustier and a velvet band across her left shoulder.

It opened with a model dressed in a soft, merino wool and tweed attire with subtle, pared-down cuts. The show saw plush duchesse satin folded, pleated, darted, draped, bunched-up and ballooned in strong silhouettes.

"We started with muted brown and subtle shades to first appeal to an audience, which is not comfortable sporting bright and vivid colours," Gauri said after the show, which also had Bollywood actor Amisha Patel in audience.

Rich black velvet bands were used throughout the entire line, giving it a sharp and tailored edge. Golden and scarlet roses delicately woven into wispy black fabric brought an element of fairy tale fantasy to dresses in feminine cuts.

"Our collection is very feminine, rich, strong, sexy, glamorous and structured. However, we didn't draw inspiration from a single subject but a variety of them. This time we just did what we wanted," the designer said.

The palette had colours ranging from magenta, blood red and pink to acid green, black and white.

Fabrics like satin, velvet, tulle and lace were used to design A-line dresses paired with shorts or pants.

"The use of these fabrics signifies opulence," she explained.

Bips & John's Romanian holiday

JHONBIPS
Looks like John Abraham and Bipasha Basu have made their plans for a summer holiday along with John’s family.

The couple is planning to leave for Romania in May to attend John’s younger brother, Alan’s wedding. Alan, who is a professional photographer, is marrying Anka, from Romania.

A close friend of the family says, “John is naturally excited about the wedding. He is very close to his family and is personally looking into the preparations for the marriage.” Incidentally, Alan had recently directed John’s PETA ad. Both Anka and Alan have known each other for some time. John has been very supportive of the relationship.”

The source adds, “Though the wedding date is yet to be finalised, it will be sometime between May 10 and May 20. John is scheduled to leave for Miami to shoot for Karan Johar’s film to be directed by Tarun Mansukhani. While John will reach Romania on May 10 after completing his schedule, his family and Bipasha will join him later.”

When contacted John confirmed the news but refused to divulge any details. Just some small advice for you, John: when in Romania, do as the Romanians do! And Bips, a quick geography question for you as well: how far is Portugal from Romania, babes?

People say I look like Sophia Loren:Bipasha

BIPASHA BASU

How cute can Bipasha Basu get! The Bengali actress found out when she experimented with her hair and got herself a daring new bob-cut.

Boyfriend John Abraham believes she’s never looked better. While Karan Johar thought she looked like a Peruvian doll! Bipasha herself was inspired to go in for the look after seeing how successfully R&B soul singer Rihanna carried it off recently. “Across the world, chic girls like Katie Holmes, Sienna Miller and Victoria Beckham are wearing this look,” said Bipasha explaining her decision to cut her hair.

She’s back in the news after a little while. Next on the charts for her is her new film Race, in which she plays a hardcore action role, and her look for which is distinctly Sophia Loren! Not strangely, she’s been compared to the Italian-born Hollywood sex symbol of the 1960s by people like Sir Paul McCartney and even Sir Ben Kingsley. It’s a compliment Bips accepts as matter of fact. “My dad also thinks I look like Loren,” she admitted, while dismissing her look in Race as being “only eye make-up with extended eye liner and no kohl at the bottom”. As for her male co-star in the film, the sultry actress said of rockstar Saif Ali Khan, “He is a super co-star, fun-loving and very focussed and we have good chemistry on screen.”

But, yes, Bipasha is now raring to go. Her Cape Town holiday with John is now a distant memory and she accepts that the chilling out period in 2008 is over and it’s time to get down to work. Talking to BT on International Women’s Day, Bips said, “I love celebrating anything. I can’t tell you how blessed I feel to be born at a time when women power is doing wonders. It’s so good to see women finding their own niche.”

She is all for women being financially and emotionally independent. “But having a man in life is special. I am little old fashioned in this regard. Men are as important in our lives as we are to them. I can’t imagine and don’t want to live without a man,” she smiled. But there’s no marriage on the cards at least until she’s 32. “That’s a nice age to settle down. And thankfully, at this point I am not being pressurised by John’s family or mine.”

Sporty Bipasha For Rebook Summer Fashion

BIPASHA BASU
Move over Sagarika Ghatke, Bipasha Basu is here to kick up some sweat. That’s right, Reebok India has signed on the fittest Bollywood star as it’s new face.

Bipasha closely working with the Reebok Instructor Alliance to promote fitness .There are many more exciting endeavors in the pipeline that shall be revealed as the Bipasha-Reebok association moves ahead.

Bipasha Basu Balances a Fitness Routine of Yoga and Cardio

bipasha
Beautifully Balanced Bips
SHE has strong views, knows her plus points and is quite clear where she wants to be. In the time we spent on an outdoor shoot in Bangkok, I couldn’t help but notice Bipasha Basu’s change in attitude. Having known her from her modelling days in 1997, where she was laidback about fitness, it’s great to see she actually had a personal trainer accompany her on an outdoor of 25 days! This sudden change happened as late as 2004, and I strongly suspect her super-fit boyfriend must have something to do with it. She has no vices like drinking or smoking.

Obsessed with the Suryanamaskar (she does a 108 of these a day!), the exotic face and voluptuous body of the ‘90s has given way to a more sculpted face and a fit body to die for. A trim exterior is backed by a strong core (thanks to some disciplined yoga with BharatThakur’s team). She spends two hours, six days a week in the gym. For someone who used to dread dance sequences, she’s become the Bidi Jalailay girl, who also happens to be the only nonsporting person to endorse Reebok!

She trains in the morning. Her routine is Day 1 — upper body, Day 2 — abdomen workout, Day 3 — legs and lower body, Day 4 — gluteus maximus, Day 5 — upper body, Day 6 — abdomen and gluteus maximus, accompanied by 108 Suryanamaskars daily with 50 minutes of cardio, and a 10-minute warm-up, which includes stretching, and holding dance postures with emphasis on breathing. Weekly four times, the 50 minutes of cardio is split up into 20 minutes on the treadmill, 10 minutes on the elliptical machine and 20 minutes on the rowing machine, twice a week. She also does a spinning class a week. She believes in weak-point training, works especially hard on her triceps and does the Bhujangasana really well.

A victim of an injured left knee, she does physio for it. Being flat-footed, she grips paper with her feet to overcome the problem. Post a trip to Rio, she started working on the gluteus maximus, as a ‘good butt’ is a sign of a great body! She is a strong believer in circuit training, which keeps the heart rate up. To break monotony, she adopts a new routine every four months. She uses yoga to strengthen her lower back, core muscles and redevelop her left knee muscles.

Equipped with little knowledge three-and-a-half years ago (which included running with bad shoes), she caught on by reading and with help from her trainer Paul. She doesn’t train when very tired and averages six-and-a-half hours of sleep.

Posted on 19-07-2008 Sanjay, Bipasha & Ajay On The Sets Of “Mr. Fraud”

The title of a film should be an indicator of its content. And Abbas-Mustan are extremely choosy when it comes to choosing the title of their films.

“Mr. Fraud” is a thriller starring Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan and Anuj Sawhney in the lead along with Bipasha Basu and Tanushree Datta, ‘Mr. Fraud’ is a production of Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision Pvt. Ltd. who have made a name for themselves with ‘Maine Pyaar Kyon Kiya’ and ‘Golmaal’ inspite of a slow start in the form of ‘Fun2ssh’ and ‘Agnipankh’.

For long, the director duo of Abbas Mastan has been trying hard to get dates from Munna bhai for their next venture ‘Mr Fraud’. Finally, they have managed to rope in Sanjay Dutt for their film, but the film’s shooting location has been shifted to suit the hearing dates of Sanju baba’s on-going court case of 1993 bomb blasts in Mumbai.

Bipasha, Lara opt out of Bachchan world tour

lara dutta
Two female fatale of the Bolywood have opted out of Bachchan’s world tour. First it was Bipasha Basu and now Lara Dutta too has opted out of the grand tour. The tour has been in news since a very long time.

It was being perceived that almost all the leading babes of the Indian film industry would accompany the tour at some point of time or the other.

But the tour called ‘Unforgettable Tour’ has lot a bit of sheen due to the non-availability of the two leading ladies of the Indian film industry.

The tour is all set to begin merely two days from now in Toronto. Desis in Canada and the US have been awaiting this historical Bollywood attack on north America with great interest.

Basically called Bachchan tour, it has many more faces in the tour. Besides Amitabh Bachcan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai there will be Riteish and Preity Zinta too. They will be the permanent fixture of the tour while other actors and actresses will be joining and leaving the tour at some time or the other.

Madhuri Dixit will join Amitabh and company in the US while Akshay Kumar will be performing in Canada. The others who will be joining the tour include Shilpa Shetty as well.

Bipasha Basu
may not have had a release since Race early this year; however the dusky actress does have a string of interesting films lined up in the next few months. While she is already sizzling on screen with Ranbir Kapoor in the promos of YRF's Bachna Ae Haseeno, she will also be seen in White Feather Art House Films' Pankh later in the year.

However what is most exciting is that Bipasha would be seen making her debut in Bengali films this year with director Rituparno Ghosh's Shob Charitro Kalponik. We bring you the mood of this Bong babe in her first ever Bong film

Bipasha's diet starts with tea, almonds soaked overnight and warm water. At 9 am, she has six egg whites, mushroom and toast with porridge, skimmed milk and fruits. At 11 am, one apple. Lunch sharp at 1 pm consisting of green vegetables, dal, grilled chicken or fish, green salad, two soya chapattis and strictly no rice except her birthday, which is quite an achievement for a Bengali!

She has tea at 5 pm with digestive biscuits. Dinner is at 9 pm with dal, salad, three vegetables cooked in olive oil, grilled fish or chicken with a miniscule portion of dessert.

Sounds exotic? Well, that she is, dark and Indian in essence, and now very fit!

Presenting Ranbir, the Rishi style!

Yash Raj has presented one box office flop after the other for sometime now and the banner is hoping to break the jinx through Siddharth Anand’s forthcoming film.

The music album of Bachna Ae Haseeno is already making waves and the show stealer is undoubtedly the title track. The hit jodi of Vishal & Shekhar have blended the 70’s magic with current music to churn out a great hip hop number which has already become a favourite across all the discotheques.

But the most intriguing factor of the movie is the presentation of Ranbir on the lines of his father Rishi Kapoor, the yesteryears chocolate boy. Interestingly, Ranbir’s much talked about scene from Saawariya was similar to a scene in his father’s debut film Bobby.

Bachna Ae Hasino is a hit song from Rishi Kapoor’s film, Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahi . The song was a rage amongst college goers and established Rishi as the new heartthrob.

Rishi played a rock star and portrayed a Casanova image in the film back then.

As they say, history repeats itself, here we have Ranbir Kapoor, essaying the same kind of a role and dancing his way into people’s hearts through the same song. Not only this, but keeping with the image that his father played, the young Kapoor will be seen romancing three sizzling beauties of Bollywood, Deepika, Bipasha and Minissha.

When we asked director Siddharth Anand if this was a deliberate attempt, he said, “We haven't taken extra efforts to present Ranbir in a different way. Ranbir is a great looker and has a great screen presence. Coming to the song, it was already there in the script. The response is phenomenal. It's been only six days since we released its music and people love it already.”

So does Ranbir imitate his father when it comes to acting? An unconvinced Siddharth says, “Comparisons between father and son are inevitable but I don't think they are similar, not even their characters. Ranbir has yet to carve a niche for himself. He is very different from his father in terms of style, acting and dancing.”

All things said and done, it remains to be seen if the beta Kapoor is as blessed as the papa Kapoor.

Get Extra Looks For Your Hairstyle

Nothing’s hotter than keeping people guessing “what’s next?” so start shaking up your style girls. We have simplified the stages for you to look different… read on.

1. Find a celebrity whose cut matches yours.
2. Grab some tools (brush or clips)
3. Have fun with all these hair-turning ideas.

Your Look: long and layered like Kareena: A haircut like hers has a lot of natural movement, which gives it great versatility.

Look one: playful bounce – work a texturising spray through wet hair, and scrunch as you blow it dry. Then slide on a headband, lift up the hair behind the headband, and spritz the roots there with volumiser. Blast quickly with hot air to create body. This is a fun weekend option, and the headband adds extra polish.

Look two: Breezy Braid – although this spellbinding style contains twists and turns, it has an unfussy natural feel. Start by braiding a section of hair horizontally in front of your crown. Gradually incorporate more strands, making the braid looser as you go. When you reach the nape of your neck, pull to one side and secure with pins.

Look three: two sleek twists – rub styling cream onto damp hair, blow it out with a round brush. Part in the middle, tehn twist back two 6-inch sections at both temples. Secure each twist with a bobby pin, tucking it discreetly into the coil so it’s hidden. This look is dressy enough for a date, but also casual for the day.

Your Look: short and fine like Bipasha: Bipasha’s kind of hair is fun to play up or down with volume.

Look one: tousled, textured waves – this fresh gamine look isn’t too ‘done’ so it has a carefree feel. Keep things simple by just blow-drying, smoothing on styling cream, then, using a curling iron to flip the ends in different directions for a casual effect.

Look two: pretty ballerina bun – rake your fingers through your air dried hair, and pull it into a high ponytail. Next, twirl the pony into a bun, securing the ends with bobby pins. It’s very elegant and if you are wearing an evening gown, it showcases the neckline.

Look three: Loose, lust worthy curls – blow-dry on a low setting with a diffuser. Then set the top layer of your hair in hot rollers. Run your fingers through, combining the top and bottom layers. Try this for a dinner date, as its very romantic.

Your Look: full and curly like Kangna: Kangna’s type of hair holds styles well, but the only challenge is fighting frizz in humidity.

Look one: side swept spirals – to recreate these smooth, sultry ringlets, use a medium-barrel iron to curl two inch sections of your hair, starting just above the ears. Then sweep everything to one side and bobby pin it in place at the nape of your neck. Finish with a spritz of hair spray. Hint: big outrageous earrings offset your look.

Look two: silky straight – apply straightening balm to damp hair. Blow-dry in sections, working with a large round brush and stretching out your strands as you go along. Thw ultimate secret to this foxy, sleek blowout is how you handle your dryer. Position the nozzle an inch from your locks, and point it down as you move from roots to tips.

Your Look: Slightly wavy like Preity: Hair like Preity’s can keep curls for days but also blows out straight.

Look one: romantic ringlets – curl your hair with a one inch iron. Next, coil back two sections (one on each side), twist them together at ear level, and secure with an embellished comb. This style is feminine without looking like you are trying too hard.

Look two: straight and layered – this elegant look is perfect for any occasion. Use anti-frizz spray before blowing out your hair with a jumbo round brush. Curl ends under and towards your face as you blast them with hot air.

Look three: posh and pulled back – to recreate this demure style, blow-dry, then curl the bottom six inches with an iron. Sweep back the top half of your hair and secure with a sparkly clip. Smooth on shine serum.
