Photo Credit: Rex 27 September 2007 (Sawf News) - Both Aishwarya Rai and Bipasha Basu will be part of Sir Ben Kingsley magnum opus Taj Mahal. While Aishwarya will play the role of Shah Jahan's love Mumtaz Mahal, Bipasha Basu will play his eldest daughter Jahanara Begum.
Sir Ben Kingsley will be Shah Jahan.
Earlier reports suggesting that Aishwarya Rai had been picked to play the role Mumtaz over Bipasha Basu are incorrect.
"Aishwarya is and has always been Mumtaz," Simone Sheffield, who is co-producing the film with Ben Kingsley and Valerie Hoffman, told Sawf News.
The rest of the cast will be finalized once the script, which is still under works, is completed. However, it will be drawn entirely from the pool of talent available in India.
"Why bring sand to the beach," says Simone. "The India pool of talented actors is absolutely enormous."
Tentatively, the film has been budgeted at $30 million. A final budget will be drawn once the script is finalized and the production elements are in place.
"We want to begin filming in 2008 based on the schedule of cast and director," Simone adds.
Simone-jee and Sir Ben would heed what is being discovered now about the Taj Mahal...that her grave in Burhanpur is still intact.. that the story that her body was interred some six months later and carted 600 miles ( yes 600 miles) from Burhanpur to Agra .. AND THEN BURIED IN A VACANT PIECE OF LAND BEING THE SAME LAND WHERE THE TAJ MAHAL WOULD BE BUILT.. come of it, guys, who would bury his wife in a constructions site.. yes, Sir Daal me kuch kala hae... and then Sir Ben would be wise to show THE COMPLETE TAJ MAHAL of which some two thirds is blocked off... show the OM in flowers on the walls, interlocking Ganessa, trishul and kalash ( lota, nariyal and aam ke patta) atop the Taj Mahal.. but best show how the lady lies ( if at all since there is now agreement that her grave is empty) on the third storey of a seven storey Hindu temple/palace/fort which has a tunnel leading from it to Agra Red Fort another pre-existing Hindu edifice...
Just, Sir Ben, google " Tejomahalaya" and " Professor Marvin H Mills" and let the goverment of India open the sealed areas and what will you find " Hindu deities secreted there... but do look for the sealed area... can supply more info it you wish when I get back to my base 4 November..office email is rjlawyers@aapt.net.au
